"I have a 4GB USB flash drive that I need to repartition. Partition Magic 8 doesn't even see it. Does anyone know of a program that can repartition a USB flash drive?" The answer is yes. With the help of a partition tool – Partition Master, you can easily and safely resize partitions on USB flash drive without data loss.

How to Use Partition Master Tool to Adjust USB Flash Drive Partition Size

How to Add More Storage to Your USB Drive ##2

USB flash drive

There are two scenarios where you might want to do this: either to resize a USB partition or to add storage space to a USB drive.

Scenario 1: Resize USB Partition in Windows 10

Usually, it is possible to create partitions on a USB flash drive. Unfortunately, due to limitations set by Microsoft, you can only see one partition of a USB flash drive in Windows. This means that you can only adjust one partition in Windows.

If the USB drive is indeed partitioned and you can't access the other partition, you can use a partition tool to delete the other partition and extend the first one. In the end, your USB flash drive will have only one partition that you can modify. You can adjust the size of the USB drive partition with the tool Partition Master.

Scenario 2: Increase/Release USB storage space

It can be frustrating when your USB drive is full. Here are some methods you can use to increase the storage space on your USB. Before you try these methods, it's best to back up any important files.

USB Flash Drive Partition Software - AOMEI Partition Assistant

Disk Partition Software - Partition Master not only supports hard disk and USB external hard drive, but also supports other removable storage devices like USB flash drive and memory card. It has advanced features to resize USB flash drive: adjust/move partition, repartition hard drive, wipe USB flash drive partition for privacy protection, convert FAT file system to NTFS, copy USB flash drive, recover deleted or lost USB flash drive partition, as well as some basic functions like formatting, creating, and deleting, etc.

AOMEI Partition Assistant supports all Windows operating systems. The free version of AOMEI Partition Assistant is a free disk partition management software designed for home Windows users, available for both 32-bit and 64-bit systems.

How do I use a partition master tool to adjust the partition size of a USB flash drive?

Without the assistance of Windows Disk Management, you can still resort to tools like Partition Master to adjust (enlarge/shrink/create) USB partitions. Here are the steps to resize USB flash drive partitions:

Step 1: Locate and select the target drive/partition

Open Partition Master, go to the "Partition Management" interface, select the disk/partition you need to resize, right-click and choose "Resize/Move".

Select the partition to resize/move: Select partition

Step 2: Resize or move the partition.

To shrink it, simply drag one of its ends into the unallocated space. Click “OK” when you're done.

Drag the mouse to the left to adjust the partition size

2. To extend a partition, you must have unallocated space (if you don't, create some as described above). Click and drag the mouse over the unallocated space. Click "OK".

Move the mouse to the left to resize the partition

3. To move a partition, unallocated space needs to be next to the partition you want to move. If there isn't any, free some up first.

Right-click the partition you want to move, and select “Resize/Move.” Drag the entire partition left or right to shift it. Click “OK” to confirm.

Drag the mouse to the left to adjust the partition size

Step 3: Review the results and apply the changes

Here you will see the new disk partition information and图表.

Aside from the USB flash drive partition manager, Partition Master also offers a Partition Recovery Wizard and a Disk and Partition Copy Wizard. It is a complete solution for USB flash drives and partition problems.

How to Add More Storage to Your USB Drive with These Tools

Deleting files doesn't always address the necessary data issues, so we'll go over some available methods. If your device has important files on it that you need to keep, the first section on compressing or deleting may be more useful for freeing up space. However, if it's just filled with unnecessary files, the latter section on formatting may be a better option.

Part 1: Increasing USB storage while preserving data

1. Compress file sizes to increase USB storage space

Compressing files refers to reducing the size of one or more files, making them smaller than their original state. When a folder is compressed, it leads to faster downloading and transferring speeds on a USB drive.

Step one: Plug the USB into the computer.

Step 2: Right-click the file or folder, and then click Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.

You can also use a file compression utility such as WinZip or WinRAR to compress the data.

Delete unnecessary hidden files

Step 1: Open Control Panel > Open File Explorer Options

Step 2: Click "View" and then click "Show hidden files, folders, and drives."

Step 3: You can now begin deleting the hidden files from the drive.

Part 2: Release Space Without Reserving Data (Format USB Flash Drive with Partition Software)

You can free up space by reformatting the USB flash drive, but this will delete all data on the USB. We recommend backing up all your data before formatting the flash drive.

Step 1: Select the USB drive to format.

Plug your USB drive or flash drive into your computer. Download and launch a partitioning software. Right-click the USB drive that you want to format, then click “Format.”

Step 2: Assign the USB drive letter and file system.

Assign a new partition label, file system (NTFS/FAT32/EXT2/EXT3/EXT4/exFAT) and cluster size to the selected partition, and click “OK”.

Step 3: Check “Yes” to confirm the formatting of your USB.

If you see any warning windows, click Yes. Back up your hard drive if it contains important data.

Step 4: Apply the changes.

Click “Execute 1 Task(s)” first, then click “Apply” to format the USB drive.
