"I have two hard drives, C and D, with a total of 2 TB storage space. Frequently, I receive warnings that my C drive (currently allocated 118 GB) is running out of space. Hence, I attempted to shrink D drive (with 1.4 TB of available space) to extend C. The shrinking process was successful. However, when I tried to reallocate the freed space to expand C, the 'Extend' command was disabled, and I couldn't extend the C drive. Did I miss any steps in the reallocation process? Has anyone encountered a similar issue? If so, could you share how you resolved it?"
Most of the time, you may need to reallocate disk space in Windows 11/10 because there is not enough free space on your system partition. This often happens when you have a lot of data on your C drive and a lot of free space on other drives like D or E. The question is how to resize partitions without unallocated space or data loss. For this, you need to use a partition manager tool.
The software reallocates disk space in Windows 11/10/8/7 with its “Resize Partition” feature. This function is used to adjust the size of partitions on a disk in one go. You don't need to consider the partition layout or manually adjust partition boundaries to resize it to your desired size.
Download a top disk management tool. Then, follow the steps below to resize the partition with Partition Master.
Step 1: Select the disk whose layout you want to adjust
Right-click the disk on the main screen and select “Resize disk layout.”
Step 2: Resize the drive or partition.
Resize the partition by dragging the dot at the head or tail of the partition. You can also drag an unallocated space next to a partition to adjust its position. Click “OK” when you're done.
Step 3: Confirm the resize of the disk partition.
Click the Run Task button, and then click Apply to save all changes.
If you receive a warning that your C drive or another disk has low disk space, you'll get a low disk space alert in our product. You can use a partition manager to reallocate or resize the C drive. Here are the steps to resize the C drive without losing data:
Step 1: Click "Optimize" to extend the C drive.
When the C drive is low on space, hover the mouse over it and you'll see a “Low disk space” warning in the Partition Master tool. Click “Resize/Move” to extend it.
Click "OK", the software will automatically extend the C drive space.
Click “OK” and Partition Master will automatically allocate space from unallocated space to C drive to solve the low disk space problem.
Optional: You can also click "Customize" to manually expand C:.
Choose "Resize Manually", select the C drive, and drag the dot to the right to allocate more space to it. Then, click "OK" to confirm.
Step 3: Verify that the low disk space issue on drive C is resolved
Click the “Execute Task” button on the top right, then click “Apply” to start all pending operations.
That's how you can transfer disk space from one drive to another in Windows 11/10/8/7. In addition to letting you partition disks flexibly, the Partition Master tool also allows you to migrate OS to SSD/HDD, resize or move partition space, allocate unallocated space, and more.

You can reallocate disk space in Windows 10 by opening Disk Management. You'll need to delete or move a partition to do this.
You can also run the Partition Master tool, which lets you add free space from another partition on the same hard disk to the system partition that's running out of disk space.
Step 1: Launch Partition Master, and then click "Resize/Move partitions" on the right side.
After clicking "Resize/Move", in Step 2, Partition Master will intelligently adjust partition size to solve low disk space problem. Then, you just need to click "Execute" to continue.
Step 3. Click the “Perform Action” button in the top right corner and then click “Apply” to save all the changes.
If you're getting an "Out of disk space" error, it's because the Temp folder is full. If you free up space on your device using Disk Cleanup, and still get the "Out of disk space" error, it's possible that app files used by the Microsoft Store quickly fill up the Temp folder.
Generally, your hard drive might not have enough space to store massive data. Besides, if you're only bothered by the C drive being full, there could be too many apps or files saved on it.
