Due to various circumstances like a drop, water damage, forgotten passcode lock, iPhone not booting up after iOS update or jailbreak failure, your iPhone can get accidentally disabled. When stuck in such a troublesome situation, you are restricted from using your iPhone along with all the data on it. Disappointing, right? ! But worry not! Here's when an iCloud backup runs automatically in the background:
This leaves the possibility of recovering a disabled iPhone from iCloud backup and getting your data back. In this page, we'll show you how to do that in detail with two methods. Read on to learn the guides.
It's well known that Apple allows you to attempt entering the passcode on your iOS device six times before it locks and disables itself entirely. If you've forgotten your passcode and ended up with a disabled or locked iPhone, you can use iCloud to remove the password from the device and then restore your data from an iCloud backup. Here's how:
2. Go to icloud.com/find from another device.
If asked, sign in with your Apple ID.
3. Click on “All Devices” at the top of the browser window.
4. Select the device you want to erase.
5. Tap “Erase [device]” to erase your device and its passcode.
6. Here, you can choose to either "Restore from Backup" or "Set up as New Device".
If your iPhone is disabled for other reasons, like physical damage, you won't be able to use the above method to restore data from an iCloud backup. What should you do then? Here, we recommend you use an iPhone Data Recovery tool that allows you to download iCloud backup to PC. You can use it to extract the disabled iPhone data from the iCloud backup to your PC or Mac. Here's the detailed guide.
Step 1: Choose "Restore from iCloud Backup"
Connect your iPhone to the computer and launch the MobiSaver tool. Click on “Recover from iCloud Backup” and then hit “Start”.
Step 2: Turn off “Find My iPhone”
Please turn off the “Find my iPhone” feature on your iPhone/iPad/iPod to continue.
Step 3: Enter the code in the confirmation box
Type "123456" in the confirmation box, then click the "Continue" button.
Caution: This step erases all data and resets all settings. Make sure you back up important information.
Step 4: Reset your iPhone
Go through the iPhone setup process until you get to the Reset screen. On your phone, select "Restore from iCloud backup." Enter the Apple ID and password for the account with the backup you want to restore. Click “Next” on your computer.
Step 5: Select the file
Select the type of data you want to recover. If you want to restore all files, you can simply click on the "Select All" button at the bottom.
Step 6: Analyze the iPhone
The software will analyze your device, which may take a few minutes. Do not disconnect or use your device during this time.
Step 7. Scan for and Recover Lost Data
MobiSaver will scan your iCloud backup file automatically to find the lost data. This process may take a few minutes. Please wait patiently. Then, choose the data you want to recover and click the "Recover" button.
